Hongwei Du
SENIOR COACH
High Performance Coach
Originally starting his coaching career at the Hebei State University in China, Hongwei relocated to Malaysia where he was appointed Head Coach of the National women’s team in 2000. He has coached athletes to World University Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships level and joined the NSW HPC in 2008. Since then, he has produced multiple Australian Champions and National Team members with athletes named to World Cup and World Championship teams. Hongwei was an Australian Team Coach at the 2019 AND 2025 World Championships in Cottbus, Germany and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Hiroaki Sato
HEAD COACH
High Performance Coach
Hiro is a member of the FIG Education Commission, is an internationally acclaimed coach who has nurtured legends like King Kohei while making a profound impact on the gymnastics community.
Hiro was previously Head Coach of the Japanese Mens Gymnastics team and has overseen the history making team and individual results with Japan the reigning Team and All-Around World Champions from 2023 and claiming the Team Gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, along with a number of individual Olympic medals.
Hiro's positive influence on the gymnastics landscape extends across borders, resonating with athletes and coaches worldwide. Concurrent with his role as a national coach, Hiro teaches at various FIG Academies, coaching seminars, and webinars. Hiro's outstanding achievements have earned him multiple recognitions, including the FIG Coaching Brevet, Excellent Coach Performance Award, and Ministry of Education Award.

Mandy Mclean
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
High Performance Coach
Mandy got her start coaching in her local gymnastics club as a teenager coaching recreation programs. After relocating, she started coaching Men's gymnastics, Women's gymnastics and Kindergym at Ingleburn RSL for the Campbelltown City Council as well as coaching trampoline, Acro and was a qualified fitness leader. There she worked her way up to be head coach and ran the program for 12 years. She has started programs from scratch at various other centres and produced many high-quality athletes, sending them to the HPC for assessment and placement. Mandy has developed some of the finest gymnastics talent to come out of NSW, produced many State champions and recently, National champions. Mandy has been a NSW HPC coaching team member since 2015.

Jack Hall
SUPPORT TEAM & JUNIOR COACH
HPC Admin Assistant & Junior Coach
Jack is a Senior International and Australian National Team Gymnast who has been in the NSW HPC since 2007 & has represented Australia at multiple international competitions including the 2017 Junior Japan Cup, the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships, the 2019 Paris World Challenge Cup, 2024 & 2025 DTB Pokal Cup. In addition to training, Jack is also studying and is the admin support for the NSW HPC.
